The government announced enactment of major legislative action in an effort of reconciliation for tax debts, zoning violations and certain other problematic matters involving more than 500.000 citizens.
As Turkey is approaching early elections scheduled for June 2018, Turkish government announced a highly anticipated regulatory package in an effort to reconcile on some long-standing problematic areas, including tax debts, defaulted social security premiums, higher education and zoning violations.
The package, announced by Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım on April 30 after the cabinet meeting in Ankara, includes schemes to restructure tax and premium debts to public institutions as well as traffic, election and military service fines.
The measures are estimated to cost the state between 22 and 24 billion Turkish Liras (almost $5.9 billion), according to Yıldırım, who said it will be paid for by revenue from plans to register millions of unlicensed properties.
